dr. Maya Schutte
Ik werk als freelancer in de wetenschapscommunicatie. Als journalist vertaal ik wetenschappelijke onderwerpen naar toegankelijke verhalen; als illustrator maak ik ze visueel.
Ik schrijf vooral over mentale gezondheid, aangezien mijn achtergrond ligt in de psychologie (BSc) en neurowetenschappen (MSc). Ik ben gepromoveerd op de afdeling psychiatrie van het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht en Groningen.
Door mijn achtergrond in de wetenschap kan ik goed meedenken over hoe een wetenschappelijke illustraties of teksten eruit moeten zien.
I work as a freelancer in science communication. As a journalist I translate complex scientific information to accessible stories; as an illustrator I visualize them.
I mainly write about mental health, as my background is in psychology (BSc) and neuroscience and cognition (MSc). I did a PhD at the psychiatry department of the University Medical Center of Utrecht and Groningen in the Netherlands.
Because of my background in science, I can effectively contribute to ideas regarding the design of scientific illustrations or texts.
